While Julie has focused on this professionally in her role as a long-term board member and current President of MELA (Midwest Ecological Landscaping Association), our clients and their projects embody the practical shifts. Julie herself has been most affected by what she learns from volunteering for the EarthWays Foundation in conjunction with a Guatemala non-profit, AFOPADI (Association for Integrated Development). Being involved with reforesting, organic agriculture and permaculture projects in a Mayan village high in the Guatemalan mountains gives her a touchstone. This guides her both to measure and inspire sustainable landscape practices in your yard.
