Robin Templar Williams Design Programs

Last year, I took my best professional design workshop ever with Robin Templar Williams. He completely opened up my perspective on how to approach landscape design. Since Rob (his father is Robin Williams and they’ve won gold medals at the Chelsea and Hampton Court Garden Show) is British and practices landscape design in England, this was my karmic comeuppance, payback for my repeating to prospective clients, “In terms of gardening climate, think Siberia, not England.” Well, good design is universal, isn’t it? At any rate, I managed to get him back on Yankee soil in January, both for professional and public programs. Whatever your level of interest in design, I would urge you to attend one of these events!

These events all provide excellent ways to part with your very-hard-earned-in-this-economy money. If you wish official background on Rob, you may check out his company affiliation,http://www.robinwilliams.co.uk/index.htm
or the design school he partners,

In January 2004, Robin Templar Williams will give a public lecture and two professional workshops. All take place at the Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe; however, the 4-day workshop is through the Association of Professional landscape Designers (APLD).

Monday through Thursday, January 12 – 15, 2004, 9 am to 4 pm, APLD Professional Workshop at the Chicago Botanic Garden, “Design Principles, Graphics and Details.”

As a Chicago native, I take great pride in what distinguishes us. We are still working against being notorious for Al Capone. More sophisticated visitors might reference our world-famous architecture. As a cook in a past life, I believe Chicago also offers great ethic restaurants among other attractions.  And as a current daughter, I can truthfully say, “My mother had a cow,” and be complimenting her.

Currently our fair city is earning the reputation as a Green City, a well-deserved title. So, let me rave about the remarkable changes that have occurred since my childhood when green meant the color of the Chicago River on St. Paddy’s day.
