| Garden in the Woods If you want to experience the deciduous forest or see endangered native wildflowers in all their glory, go directly to Garden in the Woods in spring. Whether it’s through their seed-saving program, their nursery or their numerous educational offerings, NEWFS is a bright star in the conservation sky. Bill Cullina’s book on Wildflower propagation is already a classic. For all you Midwestern clients to whom I pronounce in the tone of the Queen of Hearts, “If you want Rhododendrons: buy a plane ticket,” this is your destination. I was more entranced by some very funky Persicaria looking like delicate red threads thrown into relief by the bulk of grey rock.
