What struck my most about Biltmore was Olmsted’s and Vanderbilt’s innovative approach to forestry.

Especially in light of our nation’s recent destruction of much private & public forest, we can look to the past for an example of better stewardship. A fun way to view the gardens is to take the roof tour.

However, if I had been a lady in petticoats, I might have viewed the exterior from a more earthly perspective.

Asheville itself contains compelling culture and architecture.
