Andrew Beath, Founder the
EarthWays Foundation
Rosa Jordan, Director of Social Justice Programs
for the EarthWays Foundation
During my May 2005 visit to the reforesting/organic
agriculture project in Casaca, Guatemala, I was blessed to have these
two remarkable traveling companions.
Their combined integrity, passion, humor and courage, not to mention
their environmental activism, have inspired me tremendously. Between
them, Andrew and Rosa have authored several memorable books.
CONSCIOUSNESS
IN ACTION: The Power of Beauty, Love and Courage in a Violent Time
by Andrew Beath is currently available in paperback at Lantern Books:
Andrew’s visionary intelligence and grounded compassion
make this simultaneously practical and spiritual.

Rosa Jordan’s memoir of traveling through Central and South
America as a woman during the 1960s and 1970s, Dangerous Places: Travels
on the Edge, should have never been allowed to go OP. Though it supplies
much interesting history and politics, one of its best aspects surfaces
through Rosa’s clear and funny self-perspective. It’s
well worth tracking down.
You can also read her Lonely
Planet cycling guide to Cuba or one
of her kids’ books
Rosa’s pet project (not to make a pun) is a feline
conservation reserve in Ecuador.
